RUSSIAN DEFENSE MINISTRY: NO PLANS TO ESTABLISH NEW MILITARY BASE IN SYRIA

Moscow, SANA – Russia’s Defense Ministry denied news circulated by media on Monday about establishing a new military base in Syria.

“There are no plans to set up new Russian military base on the territory of Syria,” the defense ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry added that a branch of the Russian reconciliation center was deployed in Afrin area near Aleppo in order to monitor and prevent violations of the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria.
