LAVROV: WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT SYRIA IN COMBATING TERRORISM 

Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed that his country will continue to support Syria in combating terrorism, and reaching a political solution to the crisis in it.

In a press conference with Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Dinesh Gunawardena in Colombo on Tuesday, Lavrov underlined the necessity of establishing control over all the Syrian territories by the Syrian state, indicating to the need to eliminate terrorists’ hotbeds in Idleb.

Lavrov indicated that transferring terrorists from Idleb to Libya is a dangerous issue which would complicate the situation in the region.

In a relevant context, Lavrov expressed his country’s concern over the U.S. escalation of tension in the region, pointing out that the U.S. assassination of Iranian Lt. General Qassem Soleimani, leader of al-Quds Failaq represents the most illegitimate action taken by the U.S. and it is an outrageous violation of all international and humanitarian laws.
